Get Started With Gen AI
Generative AI (gen AI) is a type of AI that ingests and learns from lots of data. Using conversational language, you can ask it to create new content, including text, programming code, 2D and 3D images, audio, and video. Students, staff, and faculty can get started with generative AI at UCSF by following the steps below:
Step 1: For an overview of how gen AI works, watch this three-minute Coursera video How Does GenAI Work?, or this 18-minute video Generative AI in a Nutshell by a gen AI consultant.
Step 2: Please carefully review the UCSF SOM Bridges Curriculum gen AI usage policy (MyAccess required)
Step 3: Get started with UCSF's secure and private text-only gen AI tool Versa Chat (MyAccess required)
Step 4: Check out how a UCSF med student uses Versa Chat and how to use Versa Curate for medical content (CLE access required). Contact the IT Versa Team to request access to the Versa Curate assistant.
Step 5: Check out helpful UCSF AI resources, especially these UCSF AI learning resources and these crowd-sourced AI learning resources (MyAccess and UCSF Wiki access required)
