Faculty members attend weekly TSP classes.

The application period is now open for the Teaching Scholars Program (TSP); a year-long program sponsored by the UCSF Center for Faculty Educators (CFE). This program is ideal for faculty members who wish to make education their primary area of responsibility (e.g., course and clinical leadership, educational committee participants) and/or scholarship. Graduates of TSP often become education leaders and scholars at UCSF.

Reminder: All applicants must have completed the Teach for UCSF Certificate in General Teaching to apply for the Teaching Scholars Program or be on track to complete it by the end of June 2022. If you cannot complete the certificate this year, plan to apply to TSP in 2023. If TSP is a future goal and you are not enrolled in the certificate, Teach for UCSF enrollment is now available.

Key points about the program and commitment:

  • Mission: To create a cadre of knowledgeable and skilled education leaders for UCSF.
  • Program goals: Upon completion, participants will possess teaching, curriculum development, educational scholarship, and academic leadership skills with an anti-oppressive framing. Graduates are poised to contribute to UCSF through curriculum, faculty development, and scholarship.
  • Structure: Twelve to 16 scholars will be chosen for the one-year program starting on September 6, 2022.  The program consists of weekly Tuesday afternoon seminars, workshops, and a curricular innovation and/or education research project with the expectation of dissemination of the project through presentation and/or publication. Note: There will be limited formal meetings in July and August of 2023 so that scholars can work independently on their projects in preparation for graduation.
  • Deadline for receipt of applications: April 1, 2022.
  • Notification of acceptance: May 1 - May 15, 2022
