You’ve heard about ChatGPT and other generative AI (gen AI) platforms, but do you know how to use gen AI effectively? In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to use UCSF’s secure gen AI platform called Versa Chat, and discover concrete ways to make it useful in your education practice. IMPORTANT!  Access to UCSF Versa Chat is required for the workshop activities. If you have completed Versa Chat 101 for Educators or have some experience using Versa Chat, this interactive workshop is for you. We’ll cover advanced topics, like prompting strategies, that will help you use Versa Chat even more effectively in your education practice. See prerequisites below. IMPORTANT!  Pre-requisite: Completion of AI in Education: Versa Chat 101 OR previous experience with Versa Chat and Access to UCSF Versa Chat is required for the workshop activities. In this 1-hr session we will discuss foundational concepts underpinning anti-oppressive and anti-racist education practices, and provide participants with some initial tools to apply a trauma-informed lens to their own teaching.

In this skill-oriented session, participants will learn the principles of growth-mindset focused feedback, and practice application of a simple framework for feedback discussions with learners in every-day education encounters.  

The workshop will cover how to organize and deliver a clear lecture with an effective introduction and conclusion, concrete learning objectives, and techniques to equitably and inclusively engage all learners. Attendees will apply the skills learned in the workshop to their own examples of large group teaching and receive actionable feedback.

This practical workshop will focus on recognizing bias and microaggressions in learning environments, and introduce participants to basic skills to mitigate microaggressions when they occur.

This session targets all faculty who facilitate learners of any level of training. Participants will learn the basic principles of effective small group facilitation, including strategies to create an inclusive learning environment in small groups.  

This session aims to provide participants with basic skills required to write evaluations grounded in growth mindset principles, with attention to how biased language can creep in.
