The Academy's Mission

As both healers and teachers of healers, we pledge to uphold the dual values of health care professionals and educators.

We champion the UCSF PRIDE values and the values of putting the patient first, supporting patient autonomy and promoting social justice, and we commit to the AME’s Principles of Professionalism in Health Professions Education.

We also acknowledge that no person or system is perfect and accept that obstacles to professionalism are foreseeable and inevitable.

We therefore commit ourselves to the highest levels of professionalism in our interactions with patients, with students, and with colleagues, and we commit to advocating for learners and improving systems that form the environment in which professionalism can be promoted.
