Important Notice for Faculty on Industry Speakers Bureaus

At the UCSF CME Governing Board Meeting on June 9, 2009, the Board approved an important change in UCSF CME policy:

As of January 1, 2010 all faculty members who are on industry speakers’ bureaus may not participate in UCSF continuing medical education. This includes planning, chairing, moderating, and teaching CME. This new policy is consistent with new guidelines published by the AAMC (pdf) and to policies recently implemented by several other peer institutions.

By deferring this transition to January 1, 2010, we are confident that this will allow sufficient time for faculty to either disengage from industry speakers' bureaus or to find replacement faculty for the CME activity.
