About Us
The University of California, San Francisco Office of Continuing Medical Education offers educational opportunities for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, dentists, and other health care professionals to improve their practices through a comprehensive selection of continuing education activities.
We provide more than 400 CE activities in most specialties serving over 50,000 participants annually.
In support of improving patient care, the University of California, San Francisco is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
In addition, UCSF is accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA), American Psychological Association (APA), the American Social Workers Board (ASWB), and the Board of Certification (BOC) for athletic trainers.
In 2024, UCSF received the Joint Accreditation Council’s highest level of accreditation, Joint Accreditation with Commendation.

Mission Statement
The University of California, San Francisco Continuing Education Program provides lifelong learning opportunities that aim to increase competence, enhance clinician and healthcare team performance, and improve the health of patients. UCSF achieves this mission by providing ongoing development and delivery of live activities, regularly scheduled series, and on-demand internet-based learning. The UCSF Continuing Education program is committed to providing activities that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and the knowledge and skill of health care professionals and healthcare teams in clinical care, research, and public health. These goals are integral to UCSF's overall mission of advancing health worldwide.
Expected results of the program
The expected results of the UCSF CE program are to improve the competence and performance of our learners, our healthcare teams, and the clinical outcomes of the patients whom they serve. The program is systematically reviewed to determine the extent to which these expected results have been achieved.
