FAQ
Where is the Kanbar Center?
We are located on the 2nd floor of the UCSF Library located at 530 Parnassus Ave., San Francisco.
Can I take the online portion of the BLS course and come to only a portion of the BLS course in person?
We do not offer blended courses for BLS. All BLS courses are classroom based. Attendance for the full course is required.
Can I take an ACLS/PALS course that is all in-person?
ACLS and PALS courses are HeartCode courses that allow participants to take the majority of the course in their own time prior to a practice and testing session in the simulation center. Fees for the on-line portion of the courses are $168, directly payable to the AHA when registering on-line; at https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-acls (ACLS) and https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-pals (PALS)
Can I get a BLS card if I take ACLS or PALS?
Please note that the AHA assumes all ACLS/PALS providers are proficient in BLS, but the Kanbar Center will not issue a separate BLS card.
What if I need to cancel my registration? How do I get a refund?
We allow cancellation with refund up to 30 calendar days before your course date. Please contact [email protected] for refund.
What if I need to reschedule my course date?
We allow cancellations and rescheduling up to 30 calendar days before your course date. Please register and pay for your new course date and contact [email protected] for a refund for the cancelled course date.
Can I be waitlisted for a course that is full?
Currently we do not have a waitlist system for course registration.
I took the ACLS/PALS before. Can I take the renewal course instead of the initial?
The AHA no longer differentiates between renewal/initial courses for ACLS/PALS HeartCode. Regardless of your current provider status, you will need to participate in a 4 hour in-person session.
Is the e-book version for the course sufficient?
The e-book version of course manuals are sufficient.
