Denise Davis Appointed VP of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion for Academy on Communication in Healthcare
Academy of Medical Educators member and Teaching Scholar Program graduate, Denise Davis, MD, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Academy on Communication in Healthcare to serve as VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Dr. Davis is the 2018 recipient of the Chancellor Award for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership and has been a member of the Academy of Medical Education since 2015, were she has also worked on Academy initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion. Dr. Davis also graduated from the CFE's Teaching Scholar Program in 2016.
Vanja Douglas, MD Receives the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the AAN
Academy Member Vanja Douglas, MD is a recipient of the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award for 2019 from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). Dr. Douglas has been a member of the Academy since 2014.
"Excellent teachers deserve recognition for their contributions to improving neurology now and in the future. Teaching binds students, residents, faculty, other clinicians, researchers, and even patients, together and helps make our daily work more meaningful. This award demonstrates respect and appreciation for neurologic teaching."

Teaching Scholars Program (TSP) Graduates and Academy members Denise Davis, MD and Amber Fitzsimmons, DPTSc, PT are among the faculty recipients and of the 2018 Chancellor Awards for Diversity. Each year these awards recognize and honor UCSF faculty, staff and student/resident/postdoctoral scholar who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and service to the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond the scope of their job, area of research, or training.

The 2018 Holly Smith Award winners for 2018 include Academy members Beth Harleman, MD and Ellen Laves, MD, to be honored on May 22.
The Lloyd Holly Smith Award for Exceptional Service to the School of Medicine was established in 2000 to recognize exceptional career service that has resulted in broad and long-lasting benefit to the School of Medicine. The award is named for Lloyd H. (Holly) Smith, Jr., whose 35-year career as chair of medicine and associate dean exemplified such an outstanding career effort.

Kimberly Topp, PhD, PT, Class of 1994, is one of the Alumni Association of UCSF's 12 winners of the inaugural UCSF Campaign Alumni Awards to highlight the remarkable work of some of UCSF’s most illustrious alumni.
