Faculty Learning & Networking Resources

Teaching development programs are offered at no charge to VCP through the CFE. These are opportunities for faculty development, networking, and free CME credit.

  • UCSF Educational Skills Workshops and MedEd Grand Rounds
    Free workshops and lectures that serve UCSF faculty and learners at all levels of educational development and interest. See schedule, and click titles for a full description of activities and measurable learning objectives. Workshops carry CME credit at no charge.
  • Teach for UCSF Certificate Program
    A path through the UCSF Educational Skills Workshops to develop focused teaching skills and receive a certificate in recognition of your achievement. The Teach for UCSF Certificate Program is undergoing a redesign, and enrollment is temporarily closed. Scheduled workshops are currently open for registration and continuing through June. We anticipate newly designed workshops to be ready in November 2023.
  • Pearls on Education Principles
    One-page brochures describing an educational theory and applications of the theory, to apprise faculty about how education principles inform the curriculum, and to provide rationale for activities and assessments in the curriculum.
  • Teaching Scholars Program (TSP)
    A yearlong weekly seminar that develops education leaders and scholars through an intensive seminar series, mentored projects, a network of educational colleagues, and collaborative learning.
  • TOP: Teaching Observation Program
    A voluntary peer mentorship program for faculty of all levels, facilitating observation of teaching followed by a feedback session.

  • Faculty Development Resources
    The CFE maintains a list of recommended resources for faculty development modules for a variety of educational skills.

  • CME Vouchers
    UCSF Office of Continuing Medical Education provides a voucher for one free UCSF CME course/conference per year, subject to space availability and other restrictions. Vouchers are available for courses/conferences that do not require travel. In order to receive a voucher for the free offering VCF must:
    • Hold a current faculty appointment
    • Have completed a minimum of 50 hours of teaching students or residents in the given year for UCSF School of Medicine
    • Complete an online CME Voucher Request survey.

Note: After completing the online survey and receiving a voucher number, VCF must contact the office of CME with the voucher number to verify that there is space available. Registration will be verified by the CME at that time, pending space availability.
