Taxi Voucher Program

UCSF Health Taxi Voucher Program

To ensure that residents and clinical fellows are able to get home safely after working long hours, UCSF Health offers a taxi voucher program. Residents and clinical fellows may obtain a taxi voucher card from the locations listed below. Please note: This is only to be used in the event a trainee is unfit to drive home. Trainees will receive two cards, one for a ride to the trainee's home and one for a ride back to the hospital. Both rides are at no cost to the trainee.

When picking up the vouchers, residents and clinical fellows will be asked to show their UCSF ID badge (that must have a title of either “Resident” or “Clinical Fellow”) and sign a log-sheet, providing program name, the number of hours worked, and provider ID.

To schedule a pick-up from Yellow Cab, residents and clinical fellows should call (415) 333-3333.

Voucher pick-up locations:

  • Mission Bay: Security Services, C1913 (near the Children's Emergency Department)
  • Parnassus: Security Services, Room M-192

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Taxi Voucher Program

Residents and Fellows can now use the YoTaxi SF mobile app to book taxis from ZSFG to their homes. The app will replace the paper taxi vouchers which were previously obtained in the Residents Lounge.

Residents that are eligible for the program should receive a welcome email from Yellow Cab of SF. If residents do not receive this email, they will need to contact their ZSFG Trainee Administrator, who will work with the Dean’s Office at ZSFG to update the list. 

Once residents have downloaded the app and created their own account, they can then begin booking rides! 

Please note:

  • Residents will need to register with the same UCSF email address which received the welcome email. 
  • Residents should also check that they can select UCSF/ZSFG as their payment method for eligible trips so that they do not incur these charges.

San Francisco VA Medical Center Taxi Voucher Program

Residents and clinical fellows may obtain a taxi voucher card from the Administrative Officer of the Day. The person whom sits at the check-in desk located in the Emergency Department in Building 200. Please note: This is only to be used in the event a trainee is unfit to drive home. Trainees will receive two cards, one for a ride to the trainee's home and one for a ride back to the hospital. Both rides are at no cost to the trainee.
