Health Benefits and Insurance
UCSF provides residents and clinical fellows a rich package of health and welfare benefits at a good value. These plans are different than those offered to faculty and staff. Plans include health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
Retirement Savings Programs
Residents and clinical fellows are automatically enrolled in the Safe Harbor Defined Contribution Plan. Pre-tax contributions to 403(b) or 457(b) plans are optional.
Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)
FSAP provides confidential employee assistance services at no cost to UCSF faculty, staff, post-docs, residents, and clinical fellows. These services include assessment, counseling, and referral services for a broad range of personal and work-related issues.
Taxi Voucher Programs
To ensure that residents and clinical fellows are able to get home safely after working long hours, both UCSF Medical Center and San Francisco General Hospital offer taxi vouchers. These vouchers can be picked up at each hospital in the event that a trainee is unable to safely drive home.
GME Confidential Helpline
Residents and clinical fellows who are concerned about issues in their programs and would like to report them to the Office of Graduate Medical Education and/or the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education may do so anonymously or with their contact information through the GME Confidential Helpline: 415-502-9400
