Reduced clinical time effect on Step 2

Given students’ reduced clinical time this year due to COVID, are you worried about how we will perform on Step 2?

Answer

No. What correlates to how well you do on Step 2 is the clerkship exams. All of you had sufficient time during the EMLR period to study for shelf exams and then apply it in the clinical context during your Thematic Clinical Blocks. From a clinical standpoint, we also know that if students don’t have clerkship exams they do worse on Step 2. So you are prepared. You do have the option to take dedicated time, the course IDS191A that gives you credit to study for two weeks to prepare for Step 2.
