Sleep Equity for Global Health — World Sleep Day Post-Event

Monday, April 29 at 8:00 am - 9:00 am Add to Calendar 2024-04-29 15:00:00 2024-04-29 16:00:00 Sleep Equity for Global Health — World Sleep Day Post-Event Sleep health encompasses measurable characteristics of sleep associated with the physical, mental and neurobehavioral well-being of people of all ages.  This session led by Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health aims to emphasize the vital role of sleep in overall health and cognitive function. It will address the various dimensions of sleep health, including its adaptation to individual, social and environmental factors. By highlighting the existing disparities in sleep health, particularly among vulnerable populations, the session seeks to advocate for solutions that promote equitable access to quality sleep for all individuals.  Ultimately, the goal is to raise awareness and drive action to address sleep-related inequities and improve brain health worldwide. Goals Understand sleep health and equity essentials: What is sleep health, and how can I monitor it? Why is it important for global health? What is equity? Why is it important in global health?  Examine various key factors of lived experience contributing to sleep health disparities. Conceptualize implications of inequity and disparity in sleep for global brain health.
