Lorin Crawford, PhD
Principal Researcher, Microsoft Research.
Dr. Crawford’s research program focuses on developing interpretable machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to investigate how genetic effects and gene–environment interactions shape complex traits and influence disease progression. As part of this work, he co-leads Project Ex Vivo, a collaborative initiative between Microsoft and the Broad Institute aimed at defining, engineering, and therapeutically targeting cancer cell states. His contributions have earned widespread recognition, including being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and The Root 100 Most Influential African Americans list. He is also the recipient of several prestigious honors, including an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, a Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering, the COPSS Emerging Leader Award, and the Annie T. Randall Innovator Award from the Biometrics Section of the American Statistical Association.
