UCSF School of Medicine Match Day 2024 Celebrates Mentorship and Service
On March 15th, Koret Quad on UCSF’s Mission Bay campus in San Francisco reverberated with the sounds of hastily opened envelopes and cheers of excitement and joy. Family and friends joined 168 soon-to-be UCSF graduates to celebrate Match Day, the pivotal moment when medical students learn where they will be continuing their medical training journey in residency.
This year, 73% of UCSF students matched into residency programs in the state of California, and 30% of students matched at UCSF. Thirty-two percent matched into a primary care specialty. This year’s top five specialties included

On a brisk Friday morning, the sound of envelopes ripping open and shouts of joy could be heard from Koret Quad on UCSF’s Mission Bay campus in San Francisco. Serendipitously falling on St. Patrick’s Day, this year’s Match Day celebrated 184 soon-to-be UCSF graduates, as they found out where they would be continuing their medical training journey in residency.

UCSF Medical Students Celebrate First In-Person Match Day Since COVID Began
The excitement and emotions of the 2022 Match Day were heightened because the event at Koret Quad was the first time the entire class reconnected in-person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As students learned how and where they will spend the next 3-7 years for their residency, they reflected on their journeys in medical school and what they are looking to give back to their communities.

Match Making History
After four years of classes, clinics and exams, 169 UCSF School of Medicine students will graduate and embark on the next phase of their medical careers this May.
At 9 a.m. Pacific Time on March 15, students broke the seals on their match envelopes and the Millberry Union was filled with exclamations of joy and relief, as students learned where they will spend the next three to seven years in residency training programs.
Match Day is part of a tradition that takes place annually on the third Friday of March, with medical school students across the country learning their
