About the UCSF Center for Faculty Educators (CFE)
The CFE is a source of enrichment and collaboration, and support for educators and education researchers at UCSF. Six core faculty members provide consultation services, teach in faculty development programs, and conduct their own research. CFE staff administer programs to provide faculty development, recognize educational excellence, and build a scholarly community of educators. We collaborate with over 80 faculty members from across UCSF professional schools who provide faculty development to their peers. The CFE encourages faculty, residents, fellows, students and staff to participate in educational skill development and increase scholarly activity in medical education at UCSF through consultation, research support, grants and fellowships, workshops, advanced degree and certificate programs, advisory committees, and innovative faculty development materials and initiatives. We believe that choices about teaching and learning should be based on the best available evidence, and continually integrate ideas from the educational literature into our programs.
About Me
After working as an editor of travel guides and as a public health project coordinator, I came to UCSF in 1996 to support the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. In 2000 I was hired in the Office of Medical Education (OME). Between 2000 and 2007, working for the Vice Dean for Education, I fulfilled various roles developing programs to support curricular initiatives and running the office smoothly. Roles included executive assistant, office manager, faculty development coordinator, education research coordinator, and international programs coordinator. Since 2015 I have focused my efforts exclusively on faculty development.
