Lynnea Mills, MD
Dr. Mills is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Co-Director of Subinternship and Electives for Department of Medicine, and the Foundations 2 Assessment Team Lead. As Co-Director of Subinternships, Dr. Mills oversees three sites, ensuring all are aligned with the School’s goals for the Bridges Curriculum. She teaches learners across the continuum through clinical supervision of trainees, small-group communication facilitation experiences and large group sessions. She delivers a memorable opening lecture for all medical students on the patient experience, which features a diverse panel of patients whose stories illustrate the power of the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Mills is a coach in the School of Medicine’s Clinical Skills Guidance Program, a residency advisor for Preliminary Medicine applicants, a career mentor for faculty and residents, and she both directs and participates in her division’s peer mentorship program. Dr. Mills has developed several curricula, including interprofessional curricula, for medical students, residents, nursing and pharmacy students. She completed the Teaching Scholars Program in 2017 and is pursuing a PhD in Medical Education through the UCSF-Utrecht program. Division Chief Dr. Bradley Sharpe writes, “Dr. Mills has shown a consistent and unique devotion to advancing teaching and education. She is poised to serve as a true leader in medical education.”
