Glenn Rosenbluth, MD

Professor

Glenn Rosenbluth, MD is a pediatrician who specializes in caring for children with medical complexity. He works on the Pediatric Hospitalist team caring for hospitalized children with a wide range of conditions, as well as with the Craniofacial Anomalies team, both inpatient and in clinic.

As Director of Quality and Safety Programs for the UCSF Office of Graduate Medical Education, Dr. Rosenbluth has a particular interest in understanding how to engage residents and fellows in hospital-wide quality and safety initiatives. He oversees a Resident and Fellow Quality Improvement Incentive Program which engages over 850 residents and fellows annually.

Dr. Rosenbluth has has been involved in several research projects studying the interface between medical education and patient safety. He had a leadership role in the I-PASS study, which demonstrated significant reductions in medical errors and preventable adverse events after implementation of a handoff communication bundle. He is currently a mentor in the AHRQ-funded mentored implementation of I-PASS in collaboration with the Society of Hospital Medicine. He is the UCSF site director for the PCORI-funded Patient and Family-Centered I-PASS Study.

He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and has a wide range of responsibilities, including oversight of the curriculum on the inpatient rotations, development of quality improvement programs (both inpatient and outpatient), and mentorship of residents and chief residents. He has led workshops on a variety of topics, including improving patient handoffs, interprofessional team training, using electronic portfolios, and promotion of clinical reasoning skills.

Dr. Rosenbluth completed his internship, residency and chief residency in pediatrics at UCSF. In addition, he has completed a Fellowship in Hospital Medicine through the UCSF Department of Medicine, the UCSF Teaching Scholars Program, and the Intermountain Healthcare Advanced Training Program. This additional training has helping him merge his interests in quality improvement, patient safety, and medical education to develop new educational programs for residents and fellows.
