I am the Clinical Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. I attend on the Pediatric Hospital Medicine service, and have additional expertise in pediatric pain management, sedation, complex care, transport, and community hospital medicine. I am the Medical Director of the Medical/Surgical Unit at Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco. I have broad training and experience in quality improvement and am a UCSF Health Lean Leader. I am the UCSF Health GME Site Director.
My non-clinical, scholarly and leadership activities are primarily in graduate medical education. I am a graduate of the Teaching Scholars Program and a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators. I held the Abraham Rudolph Endowed Chair in Pediatric Education.
I developed and direct the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship, a two-year ACGME accredited fellowship training program, and have published on fellowship outcomes. I teach in various capacities across learner levels including medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. I have extensive teaching and curriculum development experience, as well as expertise in simulation-based education.
