Beth Griffiths, MD, MPH

Associate Clinical Professor

Dr. Beth Griffiths is an internal medicine physician who provides primary care to adults and teaches medical students and residents in primary care clinic. She also teaches health policy, advocacy, and community engagement and collaborates with researchers to translate their work into policy change. She currently holds the Gold-headed Cane Endowed Teaching Chair in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Griffiths serves as Co-Associate Director of Training and Policy Programs at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and Education Lead for the CTSI IMPACT Core. In addition, she serves as Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement for the internal medicine residency Health Equity and Advocacy Pathway, teaches a course on Translating Evidence to Policy in the Implementation Science program, and is the Community Engagement Liaison for the School of Medicine. She is core faculty at Healthforce Center at UCSF and in the National Clinician Scholars Program.

Dr. Griffiths earned her master's degree in public health at Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She earned her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, and completed a residency in internal medicine, with a focus on primary care, at UCSF.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Griffiths worked on health and human services legislation in both the California state legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives. She has held leadership roles in the California Medical Association and American Medical Association as well as taken on an active role in various grassroots, community advocacy coalitions.
