Clerkship Evluations
I am concerned that the evaluations in TCBs have been superficial and not really representative (we get so little continuity, etc). How will these evaluations be weighed going forward when we're applying for residencies etc?
This is a good question and one that students at multiple medical schools are asking. The clinical clerkships have been altered across schools and thus residency program directors are aware and will be factoring this into their application reviews. At UCSF, the clerkship directors are aware and working with their faculty to generate useful narratives and to collect evaluations from the supervisors with whom students have worked with the most. We are renewing our efforts toward faculty development with plans to deliver additional resources to evaluators.
