Faculty not following COVID guidelines
Many attendings in the hospital are not consistently keeping masks on while in shared (and small) work rooms. How do we approach this, considering the power dynamics involved?
We are sorry to hear this. We confirmed that UCSF Health is aware of this issue and they are planning to roll out a monitoring program in the next few weeks to ensure faculty compliance. In the meantime, protect yourself in that environment. Move as far away as possible from the faculty member and continue wearing your mask. If you are very uncomfortable, talk to your intern or clerkship director about how to handle the circumstance. The deans are working on a solution to decompress the cramped workroom situation and we hope this will be alleviated later this fall.
