Make-up time for missing clerkship or course due to COVID

I was exposed to a COVID patient, and had to stay home for 2 weeks. I was then told I had to make up the time I missed in order to pass the rotation. Has UCSF considered passing students in this situation without them having to “make up” the time they were forced to miss?

Answer

The reason you need to make up the time is that in order for students to pass the clerkship, you need to meet specific core objectives. Passing the clerkship is not linked to the reason ‘why you were away’ but rather if you have fulfilled the clerkship requirements of the clerkship.
