State of the UCSF Department of Medicine
In his annual Department of Medicine update, Bob Wachter will review the DOM’s educational, clinical, and research programs over the past year. He will also spotlight the key issues of 2026, including the implications of federal policy changes, AI, and the growth of the UCSF Health system.
Speaker:
Robert M. Wachter, MD, is Professor and Chair of the UCSF Department of Medicine. Author of 300 articles and six books, he coined the term “hospitalist,” the fastest-growing medical specialty in U.S. history. He is a past president of the Society of Hospital Medicine, past chair of the ABIM, a Master of the American College of Physicians, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. Modern Healthcare magazine has ranked him as one of the 50 most influential physician-executives in the U.S. more than a dozen times.
