While professional support plays an important role, peers offer something uniquely powerful: the understanding that comes from lived experience. This two-hour training is required for all new peer volunteers and will introduce you to the program, your role as a peer, and skills for providing thoughtful and effective support.  Held annually in the Fall. UCSF neuro-oncology peer volunteers (aka, Thrivers) must: (1) be a patient in the UCSF neuro-oncology clinic and at least one-year post-diagnosis; (2) be interested in and able to provide a listening and understanding ear to others facing a brain tumor diagnosis; (3) complete a 2-hour online training; and (4) complete an online volunteer application.
