Vishal Kumar, MD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology in the Interventional Radiology section at the University of California, San Francisco and at the San Francisco General Hospital. He received his medical degree from David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. He completed a one-year internal medicine internship at OliveView UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar, California. In 2009, Dr. Kumar completed one year of his Diagnostic Radiology residency program at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California. In 2012, he finished the remainder of his Diagnostic Radiology residency at UCSF, followed by a Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship at UCSF, completed in 2013.
Dr. Kumar joins the faculty of UCSF with a commitment to health equity, delivering the highest level of clinical excellence, professionalism and patient safety. His interests include global health, educating medical students about the field of interventional radiology, implementing emerging technologies to assess and improve patient outcomes, and establishing a framework for health equity in the spaces of diagnostic and interventional radiology.
