Overview

The Inquiry Funding Office offers a range of grants available to UCSF Medical Students. Each grant type will have a unique preparation timeline and application deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Inquiry. “UCSF does not use race, gender, sex, or other protected categories or proxies for protected categories in the selection process”

Types of Funds

Dissemination and Travel Awards
  • Inquiry Dissemination & Travel Grant: Limit one award per student. Awards are given on a rolling basis. See Inquiry Dissemination & Travel Award page for more information and application form.
  • Bley Stein Award for Scientific Conferences: Awardees based on competitive review of applications, given a limited number of awards available per year. Students are eligible to receive up to one award per academic year. See the Bley Stein webpage for more information and application form.

*If applying for an international rotation, you are required to complete the Away Rotation Application Checklist prior.

Summer Explore Grants
  • Including Summer Explore Grant, and Summer Curriculum Ambassador Program.
  • Applications accepted once each academic year in the Spring Quarter.

Yearlong Research Grants
  • SOM Dean’s Yearlong Fellowship - Program and application information can be found here.
  • Applications accepted once each academic year in the Spring Quarter.
  • Funding via Yearlong programs requires completion of the MDwD Program. See MD with Distinction webpage for more information.
