Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools, Training and Guidance for GME at UCSF

Multidisciplinary teams at UCSF are continually evaluation AI resources to identify tools that are appropriate, ethical, and can help reduce administrative burden while preserving the learning and experiences that are essential to your training. This page aims to gather available tools and resources to help you navigate this rapidly changing landscape. Be sure to check with your program leadership, as individual programs may have additional guidance, requirements, or tools relevant to your training.

AI Policies & Responsible Use

Use AI tools in accordance with program, departmental, campus and clinical-site policies. Clinical use is limited to tools approved by the applicable health system; access to a tool does not, by itself, mean a particular use is permitted.

  • UCSF Trustworthy AI: Learn UCSF's principles for the responsible development and use of AI, including fairness, reliability, transparency, accountability, privacy and safety.

  • GME AI Usage Policy: Review expectations for secure and ethical AI use in clinical care, education, research and other GME activities.

Before using an AI tool: Confirm it is approved for your intended task, data and clinical setting; verify AI-generated output for accuracy and bias; and follow applicable attribution, patient privacy and research requirements. UCSF Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC), and other affiliates may have different rules.
