  • Information on licensing, including a tipsheet, is available on our Medical License and Other Registrations page. Please also review our Recruitment, Selection, Eligibility and Appointment Policy on our Policies page.
     
  • License and USMLE Reimbursement Program: Residents and fellows in ACGME, Non-ACGME and ABMS programs pay out of pocket their USMLE Step III, new license, and renewal fees during their current appointment year. The fees may be eligible for reimbursement by their departments. Trainees should check with their program leadership.

Resources for Working at UCSF

  • The Office of Graduate Medical Education is always available and happy to help our trainees!
     
  • The FastPay program is a free-benefit while you are at UCSF.  This program allows trainees to create an account with our FreedomPay vendor that can be associated with your University-issued ID badge. The account is funded by you and is accepted at most vendors on campus. Learn more and sign up for FastPay 
     
  • Disability and Reasonable Accommodations for Residents and Fellows:  The Disability Management Services team provides resources and information to UCSF employees to navigate campus facilities and systems to obtain accessibility information and request appropriate campus disability accommodations. For more information, visit the UCSF Disability site and see also GME Specific Disability accommodation resources
     
  • MedHub is UCSF School of Medicine's GME management system. Depending on the training program, residents and fellows use MedHub for evaluation completion, required recording and tracking of work hours including absences, documenting procedure (case) logs, conference attendance, program curricula goals and objectives, and more! Visit Trainee Medhub Resources for learning and troubleshooting
     
  • Interpreter Services – UCSF Health: Clinical health systems require the use of qualified professional interpreters for patient care. See Interpreter Services at UCSF Health for more information. Interpreter Services has prepared a tool to identify someone’s preferred language for discussing healthcare, which will aid in determining whether an interpreter is needed. Residents and fellows who think they could be certified as bilingual to communicate with patients can sign up for the UCSF Bilingual Clinician Certification Program by contacting [email protected].

  • Radiation Safety for Residents/Fellows: Trainees who may be exposed to radiation as part of their training should review the Radiation Safety Guide and Resources and ensure they are following all recommended precautions. Trainees who need non-standard sizes of radiation personal protective equipment (lead aprons) should email the radiation resource at [email protected] and complete and application. Questions should be directed to [email protected].

  • The Office of GME has developed guidance for you in the event of Incidents of Injury, Threats,  or Violence in the Workplace.
     
  • The Ergonomics and Human Factors Program provides advice to Campus departments on preventive ergonomics.
