The AI in Medical Education Team seeks to partner with curricular leaders, faculty, staff, students, residents, fellows, and industry leaders. This collaboration will ensure Medical Education at UCSF will research, advance, and disseminate cutting-edge AI innovations, and shape the future of medical education worldwide.

Christy Boscardin, Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Assessment for Medical Education
Christy Boscardin, PhD, Professor of Medicine, is the Director of AI and Assessment for Medical Education. In this role, she leads and develops AI initiatives and programs to enhance teaching, learning, learner assessment, and administrative processes within educational settings by leveraging the capabilities of AI to augment or improve current processes. She is responsible for shaping the future of AI education and research, fostering collaborations, and ensuring the program's alignment with UCSF medical education, other UCSF AI initiatives, and national and international standards and innovations.

Benjamin Rosner, Faculty Lead, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation in Medical Education
Benjamin Rosner, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine, is the inaugural Faculty Lead, AI Innovations in Medical Education. He provides clinical and informatics oversight to AI innovations in medical education.

Polo Black Golde, Director of Data and Analytics, Technology Enhanced Education
Polo Black Golde leads a technical team dedicated to the School of Medicine’s education mission. His team oversees the UCSF-based development of AI initiatives for medical education, including managing technical resources and infrastructure.

Nick Wadsworth, Education Technology Analyst, Technology Enhanced Education
Nick Wadsworth is the lead developer on projects requiring integration with the secure UCSF Versa API. He is responsible for the development of the operations environment for UCSF Medical Education’s projects with large language models, and he consults across UCSF Medical Education on technical strategy/design for projects with LLMs.

Medical Student Interest Group: AI in Medicine

Launched in January 2025, the Medical Student Interest Group, UCSF AI in Medicine, aims to equip medical students with the competencies needed to engage with the expanding role of artificial intelligence in clinical care, research, and medical education.
The group’s initiatives include collaborations to integrate AI literacy and LLM-enhanced NBME-style assessment into the Bridges Curriculum, coding classes for peers, and an interdisciplinary speaker series of AI experts within and beyond UCSF.
