Racial Affinity Caucusing Group

RAGC recognizes that the work that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) are doing to process, heal, and dismantle racism is different from the work thaft white people need to do. This article explains the importance of having protected spaces for people to process. A few programs, including Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, have piloted race based caucusing over the past 1-2 years; participants have reported that the space has been extremely valuable for processing, healing, reflecting, learning and engaging in antiracism work.

There will be four sessions throughout the academic year, via zoom, usually in the evenings. We host majority of these sessions in the evening time, so that GME learners across sites and programs could have access to the sessions. We also try to add on sessions to support our trainees depending on what's going on socio-politically in our community and country at large. 

The facilitators will lead small and large group discussions related to your experiences of racism and bias. This is not a didactic session, but rather space to hone skills, deepen and contextualize understanding, while also sharing and exploring your experiences.

We are asking people to self-identify and attend the group(s) of their choice. You are welcome to attend more than one.
