Post Baccalaureate Application Process

2024-2025 Application Deadlines:

  • March 27, 2024: First-time Applicants
  • May 3, 2024: Reapplicants (Students who have applied to medical school unsuccessfully)
  • June 1, 2024: Notifications sent to all applicants by email

The 2024-2025 UC Post Baccalaureate Consortium application is now open. The Consortium application is a common application used for Post Baccalaureate Programs at UCSF, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Los Angeles. All applications for the UCSF School of Medicine Post Baccalaureate Program must be submitted via the Consortium application.

In addition to submitting a complete online Consortium application, you must submit all supporting materials, which include letters of recommendation, college transcripts, and if you are a reapplicant, a copy of your processed AMCAS application, to the Consortium. The Consortium will distribute copies of your materials to UCSF.

Application Appeal Process

Policy: Applicants who do not receive an invitation to interview for the UCSF Post Baccalaureate Program may appeal the decision by writing to the UCSF Office of Post Baccalaureate and Outreach Programs.

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for appeal. These requirements include California residency status, completion of required coursework, undergraduate degree (or higher) from an accredited U.S. college or university, meets minimum overall GPA and science GPA requirements, and have not been previously accepted to a U.S. medical school.

Process for Appeal: Applicants who do not receive an invitation to interview may appeal the decision of the Post Baccalaureate Admissions Committee by writing to the UCSF Office of Post Baccalaureate and Outreach Programs. Appeals should be submitted in an email request to SOMOutreach@ucsf.edu. 

Applicants who have been denied acceptance after an in-person interview are not eligible to appeal. However, they may submit a written request via email to SOMOutreach@ucsf.edu to speak to a member of the Office of Post Baccalaureate and Outreach Programs staff about how to make themselves more successful applicants in the future.

The admissions committee of the UCSF School of Medicine Post Baccalaureate Program is committed to practicing fair and impartial review of each applicant’s file in accordance with the stated criteria for post baccalaureate eligibility and admissions and in accordance with the UC non-discrimination policy.
