Lee Jones, MD
Associate Dean for Students

Dr. Lee Jones, MD, is a professor of clinical psychiatry and Associate Dean for Students. A nationally recognized expert in enhancing the learning environment for medical students, Dr. Jones has taken critical national leadership roles to design and advance strategies that enhance the culture of equity and inclusion in all medical schools. He currently chairs the AAMC Group on Student Affairs National Steering Committee and the AAMC Task Force on redesign of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE). An expert in holistic admissions, Dr. Jones has served as a national leader on medical education and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), as well as for the Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians diversity initiative.
Dr. Jones oversees the medical student experience and can assist students and faculty with issues related to student activities, supports, career planning, and professional development.
Dr. Hauer is Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean of Competency Assessment and Professional Standards. Prior to that, she served as Director of Internal Medicine Clerkships at UCSF. She is completing a PhD in Medical Education through a joint program with UCSF and the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. She enjoys clinical teaching and assessment, with a focus on lifelong learning. She earned an undergraduate degree at Stanford University and completed medical school, internal medicine residency, and chief residency at UCSF. She is a practicing general internist in primary care and hospital medicine.
Dr. Hauer sees students with questions about the coaching program, medical education scholarship, the student assessment program, and the MSPE.
Dr. Davis is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinician-Educator in the Division of Infectious Diseases. His clinical focus is in infectious diseases of the immunocompromised host, including those living with HIV or who have received solid-organ or bone-marrow transplants, and on health of sexual and gender minorities (LGBT health). His educational focus is on curriculum development and innovation, and aspects of LGBT issues related to medical education including instruction, assessment, and learning environment.
Dr. Davis oversees the medical student curriculum and can assist students and faculty with issues related to courses, teaching and supporting the curriculum.
Kevin H. Souza serves as Associate Dean for Medical Education at the University of California, San Francisco, and was the founding director of the Office of Educational Technology (now Technology Enhanced Learning). He has administrative responsibility over the medical education programs and programmatic oversight of educational technology and simulation activities in the school. His professional interests include cultivating educational leadership, systems improvement, organizational development, strategic visioning, use of innovative and effective technologies in teaching and learning (including simulation and telemedicine), and the advancement of health worldwide through competency-based health professions education using appropriate technologies and educational methods.
Kevin serves as the administrative dean for medical education and can assist students and faculty with information about staff functions, budgets, learning and development, and operations.
David Wofsy, MD
Associate Dean for Admissions
Dr. Wofsy received his undergraduate degree from Harvard (1968), his MD from the University of California, San Diego (1974), and his medical residency training and rheumatology fellowship training from the University of California, San Francisco. He joined the UCSF faculty in 1980. He currently Professor of Medicine and Microbiology/Immunology at UCSF. Dr. Wofsy also serves as Associate Dean for Admissions for the UCSF School of Medicine. He has served on numerous NIH study sections, and on the Arthritis Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Wofsy can advise students with information about admissions.

Catherine Reinis Lucey, MD, is vice dean for education. She directs the undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education programs of the School of Medicine and the Office of Medical Education. Dr. Lucey comes to UCSF from Ohio State University where she was vice dean for education for the College of Medicine and associate vice president for health sciences education for the Office of Health Sciences. She is a member of the AAMC MR5 committee, charged with overseeing the revision of the Medical College Admission Test process. Dr. Lucey completed her residency in internal medicine, including service as chief resident, at the UCSF-affiliated San Francisco General Hospital, after earning her medical degree from the Northwestern University School of Medicine.
Dr. Lucey oversees all medical education programs including medical students, graduate medical education and continuing medical education. She is available as back up to Drs. Jones, Hauer, and Davis for acute issues or in any emergency involving students, faculty or staff.
