Academic advisors are available within the Medical Student Center to support you and your success as a student at UCSF. Academic advising provides a broad range of academic support, such as referrals to tutoring resources, medical school orientation, assisting to request leave from the curriculum, managing your schedule, scheduling your clinical clerkships, the residency application process, and much more.

Foundations 1 

Amanda Dohse, Foundations 1 Academic AdvisorAmanda Dohse

Amanda Dohse, Foundations 1 Academic Advisor, assists students during the first 18 months of medical school. She is an essential part of your first few months, as she will meet with all first-year students to discuss your transition into medical school, academic resources, and long-term career planning. Amanda also advises the associate students for the School of Medicine (ASSM).

Foundations 2 

Nikki Williams, Medical Student Academic AdvisorNikki Williams

Nikki Williams assists students through 12 months of clinical core clerkships and clinical electives. You’ll meet with Nikki in your 2nd year in the Fall to schedule your Foundations 2 clerkships and x Clinical Immersive Experiences (CIExes). They can assist with Foundations 2 schedules, accessing resources, preparing to take Step 1, and continuing to career plan.

Wenia Lee

Wenia assists during your final 18 months for scheduling career-launch courses, such as sub-internships, and will ensure you’re on track to graduate on-time. She helps navigate the administrative process to take a gap year between your 3rd and 4th year to complete an additional degree or to conduct research. She can also help decide when to take Step 2 Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Science board exams and managing the residency application process.
