Expectations of Academy Members

Members actively participate in the Academy's work to promote educational excellence in the UCSF community.

Physician standingAcademy members serve as mentors to School of Medicine faculty, Teaching Scholars, residents and other teachers interested in developing as teachers.Upon request, they also assist courses, clerkships, and departments in strengthening their teaching (learn more about the Teaching Observation Program). Members promote and support interdisciplinary and interdepartmental approaches to medical education and collaborate with colleagues in academic departments and the Office of Medical Education to develop, implement and evaluate improvements in the curriculum.

In addition to their participation in these activities, members must be productive Academy citizens and fulfill minimum annual service expectations. Academy service is self-directed and fundamental to the Academy's founding principles.
