#SaveIsabel Advocacy Event @ BCH Oakland

Wednesday, September 11 at 9:00 am - 11:00 am Add to Calendar 2019-09-11 16:00:00 2019-09-11 18:00:00 #SaveIsabel Advocacy Event @ BCH Oakland Isabel Bueso has been a patient with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland for over 16 years. She and her family are facing possible deportation back to Guatemala due to a recent change to federal immigration policy. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' (USCIS) unilateral decision to eliminate “medical deferred action” puts at grave risk patients like Isabel, who are residing legally in our country while receiving life saving treatment.  While USCIS recently announced it would reopen pending deferred action requests, many questions remain about the status of this program, and the long term implications this policy change will have on Isabel and others. Join UCSF Advocates in urging USCIS to reverse this policy and allow Isabel to continue her life-saving care at UCSF. Support Isabel When She Testifies to Congress On Wednesday, September 11, Isabel will testify before the House Oversight Committee hearing. Join "watch parties" at BCH Oakland and in San Francisco to support Isabel and participate in advocacy together. The hearing begins at 9am - Isabel is testifying first!  Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Bring your laptop and join us to watch the hearing and advocate for our patient. We will have UCSF Community & Government Relations staff on hand to help with tweeting and communicating with our representatives and USCIS. Congressional Hearing Watch Party + Advocacy Wednesday, September 11, 9am-11am BCH Oakland, OPC Boardroom Find other ways to advocate for Isabel at bit.ly/save-isabel.
