Nursing Students of Color Present: Black Maternal Health Week
Dear UCSF and wider community,
There is a crisis in Black women's maternal health care. Black women in the United States are three to four times more likely than white women to die of childbirth related causes and their infants are twice as likely to not survive their first year. For the second annual Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-April 17) created by the Black Maternal Health Alliance (@blackmamasmatter), the student-led Nursing Students of Color at UCSF invite you to join us for an expert panel discussion on the gaps in communication, strategy-building, and accountability around maternal health in Black communities on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 5-7:00pm, UCSF School of Nursing, N225.
Panelists (bios forthcoming):
Karen Scott, MD, Obgyn
Cynthia Greenlee, PhD
Sumayyah "Sumi" Franklin, Full Spectrum Birthworker
Moderator, Lamisha Hill, PhD
We invite you to share this event widely across the community! Please RSVP to this event so we can have an appropriate amount of food.
Sincerely,
Nursing Students of Color at UCSF
