Speaker:Lisa Kroon, PharmD Professor and Chair Department of Clinical Pharmacy UCSF School of Pharmacy ---------- Learning objectives: At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to: For patients, assess precautions/warnings for use of the first-line smoking cessation medications (nicotine replacement therapies, bupropion SR, and varenicline), and, taking patient preference into consideration, initiate an appropriate medication regimen (dose, frequency of administration, and duration of therapy) Identify the two most effective, evidence-based smoking cessation medication therapies List three concerns with using electronic nicotine delivery systems (e.g. e-cigarettes) for smoking cessation Refer patients for follow-up tobacco treatment care after discharge ---------- Intensive Services Grand Rounds presentations are for educational purposes and are intended only for an audience of medical professionals.
