Specifically, participants will learn about the One-Minute Preceptor Model for teaching in the outpatient setting and the SNAPPS model. The session will also cover the provision of feedback during a teaching encounter, as well as how to teach efficiently in challenging teaching situations. During this session, participants will: Practice the one minute preceptor model, and reflect on how to apply it in different clinical scenarios. Practice providing positive as well as constructive feedback during a teaching encounter. Discuss the pros and cons of common teaching models. Review the current research on clinical teaching models. At the end of this session, participants will be able to: Describe the basic components of three evidence-based clinical teaching models for the clinical setting. Apply these teaching models in their own clinical setting. Summarize current research on clinical teaching models. Set personal goals for applying the skills learned in this workshop to one's own practice setting, and review a tool designed to assess performance of new teaching skills.   UCSF is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The above credit is inclusive of all UCSF Educational Skills Workshops and the Teaching Scholars Program. Credit available for this event only is 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™â„¢.
