About the iROCKET Student Dashboard
The UCSF School of Medicine iROCKET Student Dashboard provides a streamlined, secure online tool to allow students to access performance information from assessments during medical school. The ultimate goal of the Dashboard is to support students in their journey to graduation and in their professional development. At UCSF, we believe that medical students should have data-based tools to chart their individualized course through the curriculum, as an important component of the lifelong learning skills they are developing. The iROCKET Student Dashboard was built for this purpose and also in response to requests by previous UCSF medical students for such a tool. The integrated view of performance data provided by the iROCKET Student Dashboard allows students to gauge their relative strengths and areas for improvement in multiple essential competency domains, and, with their faculty mentors, to develop data-driven action plans.
Medical Knowledge Dashboard: Example View
The iROCKET Student Dashboard will be completed in several phases. Phase 1 launched in January 2015 with information related to student performance in two of the UCSF MD competencies:
The Professionalism Dashboard displays information about student professional behavior across the curriculum. The purpose of this dashboard is to summarize professionalism information from the Essential Core (EC), Clinical Core, and the Clinical Performance Exam (CPX).
The Medical Knowledge Dashboard displays information about student performance on medical knowledge assessments across the curriculum. Student performance in the EC Subjects, which are tracked longitudinally, are displayed along with the possible points and the class average for each subject. Also included are student Overall EC Subject Scores. Student clerkship medical knowledge ratings from summary evaluations, clerkship examination scores, and MCAT, USMLE Step 1 and 2 scores, as available, are also included.
Accessing the UCSF Medical Student iROCKET Dashboard
Access to the Dashboard is limited to current UCSF School of Medicine students, to their faculty advisor, and a small number of School administrators. The Dashboard can be accessed at http://irocketstudash-som.ucsf.edu (VPN required for off-campus access), and more information about the Dashboard can be accessed through this CLE course (login required): https://courses.ucsf.edu/enrol/index.php?id=1798.
