Christine A Geehrer Inspiration in Medicine Award

The Christine A Geehrer Inspiration in Medicine Award (CAGIM) provides a cash grant of $26,200 to one deserving individual enrolled in the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. The cash award will be available for tuition, books, and materials.

Eligibility: The individual selected for a grant each year must demonstrate financial need and be selected by a majority of the CAGIM Board of Directors. Individuals will be selected based on demonstrating an uncommon zeal for adventure, an unusual attraction for challenges, and a unique relationship with running. These attributes will be judged based on an applicant’s participation in challenging projects or programs such as athletic events, civic causes, professional endeavors, or overcoming extraordinary family or personal challenges. The individual selected must be enrolled or accepted into USCF medical school and committed to attaining a degree to practice in the field of medicine. Students who compete successfully for the CAGIM award must have a satisfactory academic record -- but the primary purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and help underwrite a student's commitment to the broader community.

Application Procedures: Students are notified of this opportunity in early May with applications due via email by June 1, 2015.

To apply, please visit for the 2015-2016 CAGIM medical school scholarship application.

Applicants will be notified in late June 2015 for an interview with the CAGIM Board of Directors, when one student is chosen to receive this Award. The distribution of the CAGIM Award is coordinated by the UCSF Office of Undergraduate Medical Education.
