Preparing for the New GME Accreditation System

Led by:

Robert B. Baron, MD, MS
Associate Dean, Graduate and Continuing Medical Education

Maintaining accreditation is an essential responsibility of GME program directors, associate program directors, core faculty, and program coordinators. Many changes to ACGME policies and procedures are underway as the ACGME implements the Next Accreditation System (NAS).  Many aspects of the new system will begin July 1, 2013.  This workshop outlines the changes to accreditation that programs can expect in the coming year and will provide tools, resources and expertise that programs can apply now.

The workshop will include presentations and an interactive panel discussion with program directors, core faculty members, senior staff, and other UCSF experts who are involved in implementation of the new system both at UCSF and nationally.  At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand changes to ACGME accreditation policies and procedures.
  • Navigate new features in the ACGME Accreditation Data System (ADS).
  • Define new learner assessment requirements and identify ways to assess each learner's progress with milestones.
  • Leverage E*Value and other UCSF GME tools and resources to help you meet accreditation requirements.
