Explore, Enroll, Achieve


A pursuit of all UCSF students, "Pathways Explore" denotes the opportunities and recognition of formal training and other pursuits that enhance innovation and leadership potential regardless of completion of an official Pathway project.  Read more about "Pathways Explore" here

UCSF learners at all training levels and from all schools can also enroll in one of the 5 Pathways, a commitment to complete core or advanced programs in Global Health, Health Professions Education, Health & Society, Molecular Medicine, and Clinical and Translational Research. Core        Advanced

All core programs provide training and career development via

1) coursework, including Works-in-Progress, journal clubs, or case conference

2) a mentored project addressing an immediate healthscience question or healthcare need

3) dissemination products including abstracts, posters, and in some cases, talks

4) a legacy product that communicates project outcomes                             

Pathways hosts several advanced training programs for learners who've developed the "core" skills at UCSF or other institutions.  Advanced training opportunities require a commitment to additional coursework and/or projects of more breadth and depth than required by core tracks.  Options include:

Outcomes include:

  • Training in methodology
  • An immediate impact on health sciences and/or healthcare
  • A product or artifact capturing the innovation
  • Dissemination
  • A mentoring team
  • Career networks
