Post-Match Reports

Purpose: The post-match reports provide data on UCSF students who have recently matched into residency programs.

Reports including data from the most recently matched class are typically available in late May. For a summary of match data, including the most recent match, please see the UCSF School of Medicine Match Results Summary.

To ensure student anonymity, reports have been withheld for specialties with fewer than four matching students. For these specialties, data is provided from prior years.

Sample and Data Sources: Academic achievement data for medical students came from the UCSF-maintained Medical Student Information System (MedSIS).

Advising and research participation data came from the Post Match Survey completed by medical students who matched into residency in the years indicated.

Application data was collected from the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Medical students were grouped based on matched specialty. Students who matched into a transitional or preliminary year were grouped by their ultimate residency specialty starting in post-graduate year 2. Data for these students is also included in the Transitional and Preliminary reports, including pertinent qualitative data collected from the Post Match Survey.
