Building Our Scholarly Community

Each year on the day of their graduation, participants in the UCSF Teaching Scholars Program share project work with the incoming class of Teaching Scholars and the broader UCSF community.

This model captures how we build an educational community at UCSF. The graduates go on to enrich their learning environments with their new knowledge and have helped the incoming class of new scholars recognize that they are linked to a long UCSF tradition of valuing the role of educators and education scholarship to enhance learning.

At this year’s graduation on September 11, division chiefs, department chairs, and deans participated in the celebration honoring this year's graduates and their scholarly projects (PDF).

TSP was a fantastic experience. I loved meeting colleagues across UCSF who are passionate about medical education. The community of educators that TSP builds is outstanding. The content delivered by Pat, Dave, and the faculty team was illuminating and helped me build a strong foundation of medical education knowledge. I was able to use the material I learned regularly as I continued to develop the PLUS curriculum. I loved to opportunity to work with a partner on my TSP project, which was successful in part I think because of its relevance to my day to day job. I would definitely recommend TSP to anyone interested in medical education, and I am grateful for the opportunity to participate.
