Academy Participation and Service

  • Members actively participate in the Academy's work to promote educational excellence in the UCSF community.

  • Jacque Duncan, MD speaks at an AME member-wide meeting.
Academy members serve as mentors to School of Medicine faculty, Teaching Scholars, residents and other teachers interested in developing as teachers.Upon request, they also assist courses, clerkships and departments in strengthening their teaching (see TOP). Members promote and support interdisciplinary and interdepartmental approaches to medical education and collaborate with colleagues in academic departments and the Office of Medical Education to develop, implement and evaluate improvements in the curriculum.

In addition to their participation in these activities, members must be productive AME citizens and fulfill minimum annual service expectations. AME service is self-directed and fundamental to the AME's founding principles.
