Academy Faculty Resources

The Academy of Medical Educators is dedicated to helping all UCSF faculty members improve their teaching skills, enjoy more fruitful and rewarding teaching experiences, and further develop their careers in education.

  • Academies Collaborative: created in 2001 with the goals of sharing nationally new approaches to improving medical education and helping to create culture change in academic medicine that better fosters the recognition, support, and collaborative work of educators.
  • Educator's Portfolio: The Educator's Portfolio (EP) documents educational accomplishment for academic promotion, and is the core of the membership application for the Academy.
  • Online TOP Module and TOP Observer Training: The Online Teaching Observation Program (TOP) Module was developed by the Academy as an online method of training TOP Mentors. The module is accessible for UCSF and Non-UCSF faculty. This module benefits novices seeking to learn basic feedback skills and experienced mentors seeking to hone their skills or practice with a different teaching setting by using the principles of "blended learning."
  • Excellence in Teaching Awards: Faculty, nominated by their peers, are recognized annually at the Celebration of New Members for outstanding contributions to their courses and dedication to students
  • The Value of Mentorship (PDF) - A great mentoring presentation by Mitchell Feldman, MD, M.Phil; Academy member; Associate Vice Provost, Faculty Mentoring; Director, CTSI Comprehensive Mentoring Program
  • Other faculty resources: our Get Involved section offers a variety of teaching tools, articles and worksheets for career planning, articles on teaching and mentorship, for our education community.
